New QLEWN Program Manager
QLEWN Program Manager Position Statement
QLEWN and MHLEPQ have been seeking a suitably experienced program manager (SCHADS Award L7.1). There was an extensive and timely recruitment process, where QLEWN and MHLEPQ were able to meet with some very passionate and highly skilled candidates. Unfortunately, the broad and diverse level of experience required for this role was not able to be fully met. At this time, the position is crucial to the further development of QLEWN as the peak for the Queensland Lived Experience Workforce.
Considering there is a relatively short period of guaranteed funding and an extensive workload before the QLEWN Summit in February, both organisations felt they needed to consider the most viable option to employ someone in this role more immediately. In doing so, the desire by both organisations to complete another round of recruitment becomes unavailable due to time pressures and nuances of the role.
As a short-term response to this situation, the QLEWN Management Committee has made a decision to nominate Amanda Haberman to fill the position with the view to re-advertise once the initial funding period has expired on 1st January, 2026. Amanda will step down from her role as Chairperson of the QLEWN Management Committee on January 15, 2025, and then step into the role of program manager.
QLEWN gave deep consideration in nominating Amanda for the program manager role. The QLEWN Management Committee believes her extensive experience in the Lived Experience Workforce sector, alongside her familiarity with QLEWN as an organisation, will ensure a strong foundation will be developed for the ongoing progression of QLEWN as a peak body and further funded roles.
There is acknowledgement that this is not the optimal and preferred outcome for the recruitment of this role. QLEWN, MHLEPQ and the QLD Mental Health Commission support the decision as an interim measure to ensure regainment of lost time throughout the recruitment period. During the period Amanda is employed, by MHLEPQ who will auspice the role, and Amanda will report directly to the CEO at MHLEPQ.
