Expressions of Interest for the IMPACT Strategic Advisory Group
Communify, in partnership with the Queensland Lived Experience Workforce Network (QLEWN), is excited to announce the establishment of a co-designed network for the Lived Experience Workforce in Queensland, supported by seed funding. This initiative aims to create a robust platform for Lived Experience workers, students, and advocates/representatives across Queensland to connect, collaborate, and build capacity. The network will focus on supporting the Lived/Living Experience Workforce across various sectors, including mental health, alcohol and other drugs, suicide prevention, eating disorders, disability, and other emerging Lived Experience workforce areas.
The network development process began in November 2024, with two co-design sessions held in early 2025 and initial network meetings taking place in March 2025. As we continue to build on this momentum, we are seeking expressions of interest for the formation of a Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) that will provide leadership and strategic direction for the ongoing development and sustainability of the network.
Purpose
The Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) will be integral in guiding the vision, priorities, and governance of the network. The SAG will ensure that the network remains firmly aligned with Lived Experience values and principles while adhering to national guidelines. Additionally, the group will work alongside the broader existing and emerging Lived/ Living Experience workforce sectors to advocate for systems reform and provide strategic input into workforce development and sector-wide change.
Key Responsibilities
• Guiding the overall vision and strategic priorities of the network.
• Ensuring co-design principles are reflected in governance and decision-making.
• Advising on policy development, funding strategies and long-term sustainability efforts in relation to the network.
• Strengthening advocacy initiatives for Lived Experience Workforce recognition across sectors.
• Providing input into workforce development strategies and systems reform.
• Reviewing Community of Practice activities to ensure they represent member needs and development of the broader Lived/Living Experience Workforce.
• Ensuring diverse representation from various Lived Experience sectors.
• Working collaboratively with peak bodies and other government and non-government organisations to provide consultation regarding the Lived Experience Workforce.
• Demonstrating commitment to social change values in systems and communities.
Participant Selection and Criteria
The Strategic Advisory Group will include up to 12 members from diverse geographical areas (urban, regional, rural, and remote) across Queensland, as well as individuals from different sectors within the Lived/Living Experience Workforce.
We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who:
• Identify as having a personal lived/living experience with mental health, alcohol and other drugs, suicidality, etc. and navigation of services and broader systems.
• Experience in a Lived Experience role, Lived Experience Leadership or actively involved in peer work, advocacy, policy, or other Lived Experience sector initiatives.
• Have a strong interest in contributing to systems-level change, workforce development, and strategic leadership.
• Can commit to regular meetings to support network development and sustainability.
• Have an in-depth understanding of the Queensland Lived Experience Workforce landscape and sector priorities.
Commitment & Meeting Schedule Initial Commitment: May–September 2025 (with the potential for extension subject to ongoing funding). Ideally, membership will be maintained for a two-year term.
Meeting Schedule:
• May, June, July – Monthly, 2 hour meetings.
• Every two months following July (subject to funding).
To support professional development and leadership growth within the network, we will also introduce shadow members. Shadow members will have opportunities to observe meetings, contribute as appropriate, and gain experience in governance and strategic planning.
Payment & Participation Meetings will be held virtually via Zoom/Teams.
Payment: Members will receive $50 per hour for their participation, unless attending as part of a paid work role.
